Ryan Rising is the founder of Eco Social Action and Eco Social Design, and co-founder and director of Permaculture Action Network. As a community organizer and social-ecological design facilitator, Ryan brings principles and practices from two decades of grassroots movement work in direct action, food sovereignty, and ecological regeneration to the courses and workshops they teach. Through innovating a worker self-directed nonprofit collaborating with artists and music festivals, Ryan mobilized over 15,000 people to hands-on action building 100 regenerative community projects across 65 cities. Ryan is also co-founder of the Omni Commons, a community center in Oakland, CA; and the Gill Tract Community Farm, an urban farm distributing thousands of pounds of free food and medicine annually. Ryan recently served as the Executive Director of Rhize, a non-profit growing and distributing organic food through mutual aid and currently consults festivals and organizations in regenerative event and project design and facilitation.
